The University Christian Lower School is comprised of the Preschool Program, Primary Grades (K5-4th) and the Bridge Academy. a team of excellent, Christian teachers who are experienced and professionally prepared to support the needs of each student. Teachers are able to minister to the whole child, seeking to enrich him spiritually, intellectually and socially, helping each child establish his unique identity in Christ.
The Preschool program is a developmental experience designed to lay a solid foundation for students to grow as Jesus did- in wisdom and stature in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). As we partner with parents, it is our desire to see our youngest students grow spiritually, academically, and socially. In a safe, nurturing environment, our experienced faculty provides our students opportunities to develop a curiosity and passion for learning. Preschoolers enjoy an array of leaning activities including daily Bible, Phonics, and Math instruction. Social Studies and Science concepts are taught through units as students learn more about their own community and the world. Our preschoolers attend weekly enrichment classes including Chapel, Music, Physical Education and Library. Our Preschool program includes K3, VPK, and a full K4 program. Preschooler may attend either a full day or half-day program.
The Lower School program includes a balanced curriculum featuring a strong phonics foundation, systematic reading instruction, hands-on math experiences, creative writing, and a discovery approach to science. Students are encouraged to think critically and to use problem solving skills as they become life-long learners. Enrichment opportunities include music, physical education, library, computer, and field trips. Along with our weekly Chapels and daily Bible lessons, biblical truths and concepts are integrated into each subject. Students are encouraged to serve others through can food drives, missions studies, and service field trips. Lower School athletics including flag football, cheerleading, basketball, and soccer are available.
Bridge Academy (BA) is a program developed specifically for our fifth and sixth graders as they "bridge" into our Upper School. Bridge Academy students are guided by a team of four excellent teachers who work closely together to establish an age- appropriate learning environment. Core subjects including Bible, Language Arts, Math, Science, and History are taught from a biblical perspective. Students are encouraged to think critically and challenged to find "real life' applications. Enrichment classes include Band, Chorus, Computer, Spanish, and Physical Education. Opportunities for students to grow socially and in their leadership skills are provided through clubs including Jr. Beta and UC Ambassadors.
Lower School Classes begin at 8:00 A.M. and the day is concluded at 3:00 P.M.
